Fastest finger first

Ok, so it's not to win a million quid, but I'm impressed by the speed of some people.

I get emails from SeeFilmFirst offering freebie tickets to preview showings of some films. Everytime I try to get free tickets they have all gone for the closest cinema.

But today, well I really thought I was in with a chance.

There was an email, time arrived 15.16, time sent 15.12, and it was 15.17. Even more exciting, it was a film I wouldn't mind seeing.

My speedy fingers quickly called up the website, I entered the special code and.....................

all the tickets had gone.

It was 15.18.

Gosh, they're quick in Bradford.

He knows who he is came round on Monday night for a Chinese and a small sweet sherry (take-out, in case you have any weird idea I cooked.)

You haven't blogged for a while, says he.

Which is true.

Partly because I have done absolutely nothing exciting.

Partly because I am absolutely knackered.

I can't be arsed to go out on an evening. For some bizarre reason it has finally dawned on me that wine is much cheaper when drunk at home. And I am really not liking this smoking ban one bit - even though one of my regular pubs has been non-smoking 18+ months, but now it's the law it's just that bit more annoying.

I keep going for a snooze from 5 ish until 6 ish beacuse I simply cannot keep my eyes open. How sad, and old, is that? Going back to uni has really knocked me out. Hell, I even have to go in FOUR days this semester. It's a nightmare.

I've barely been on the internet - not even eBay. Not even to buy a handbag. That proves how out of kilter I am.

So, for those friends who - despite some of them living within a few miles of me - rely on my blog to keep them informed of my recent activities, here's a list of what I've been up to over the last month or so:

Brewery? Piss up?

Well if you're Leeds Metropolitan University it's highly unlikely that you would ever manage to organise one.

Today was our first day back for lectures. Someone in charge decided it would be a mighty grand idea for us to submit our module electives by 31st March (ie 6 months AGO, not in 6 months time) so that 'they' could decide the timetables and let us know where we should be and when.

The last 4 times we have had a new timetable we've have been given the times for lectures and tutorials for each subject less than one week before semesters started, and then we decided where we were going to be and when.

And it worked.

So now they have had our requirements for 6 months. Do I have a timetable? No. Does Jonathan have a timetable? No. Does anybody else on our particular degree course have a timetable? Do they fuck.

Actually that's not 100% true. I do have one subject on my personal timetable. But there's a slight problem. I'm not doing that subject.

Given that our bit of the uni, the Faculty of Business and Law, has such great modules on offer such as 'Management of Change', 'Business Strategy', Business Decision Making' and - a particular favourite of mine - 'Innovation and Change' it would be really nice if they practiced what they preached, but they don't.

So Jonathan and I have planned our own timetables and are going to turn up according to that and if they don't like it they can all bugger off.
